Backhalved to fit the Honda better? And do I see the transaxle being used as a stressed member?
Keep us posted, this is awesome.

Seems like a Formula Ford type class, small displacement open wheeler with no aero and a big emphasis on carrying speed through corners. Looks similar to how a FFord chassis would be constructed.

TA3K30 is right; it’s a Formula Ford, which they officially call Formula F now in the US because Honda wanted to
play
sell engines too. It’s the L15A7, straight out of the Fit with only a few mods. Dry sump oil system, new wiring/ECU and a new intake.
Still got that Vtec though.

Yea, it originally had a Ford Duratec motor but the SCCA uses either the Kent or Honda Fit engine, and the Fit is the only competitive choice. The Duratec mounts conflict with the packaging for the Fit so they had to be reconfigured. The transaxle is stressed but the engine isn’t.
Once I get the car back I’ll be streaming the assembly on twitch. I’ve temporarily moved back home for the project so I’ll be working on it full time.
